The Alley Lighthouse Project is a volunteer activity that installs solar-powered LED sensor lights in alleys that remain dark despite having streetlights and security lights, helping residents walk safely at night and preventing anxiety in the dark.
Since it uses solar power, it can create bright streets without additional costs such as electricity bills like conventional security lights.
The Alley Lighthouse Project is being carried out throughout Seongbuk-gu, with volunteer groups connected to the local community participating.
The Alley Lighthouse Project conducted in Bukjeong Village this time involved 12 volunteers from the Deoksu Church Volunteer Camp in Seongbuk-dong.
Following social distancing guidelines due to COVID-19, they were divided into three groups and installed a total of 14 solar-powered LED sensor lights in dark alleys around Bukjeong Village, and also carried out house repairs and briquette volunteer work.
Last November, using the fence of Donggu Marketing High School in Seongbuk-dong, the Korea University student volunteer group (Gojip) performed mural volunteer work, and the Geumwoo House Repair Volunteer Group carried out house repairs and attached solar-powered LED sensor lights.
