[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Volvo Group Korea, together with Volvo Trucks Korea, announced on the 14th that they supported flood recovery efforts in the Samcheok and Goseong regions of Gangwon Province, which were damaged by this year's record-breaking summer monsoon and Typhoon Maysak (No. 9) and Typhoon Haishen (No. 10).
From the 4th to the 12th, Volvo Group Korea and Volvo Trucks Korea carried out restoration work at three locations: the river in Nogok-myeon, Samcheok City; Cheonjincheon River in Sinpyeong-ri, Goseong County; and the river along Jinburyeong-ro.
For this river restoration project, a total of 52 pieces of equipment were deployed, including 19 units of 14-ton wheel excavators (EW140E PRO) from Volvo Construction Equipment, 12 units of 30-ton crawler excavators (EC300E), 5 units of 5-ton excavators (EC60E PRO), 12 units of 25-ton dump trucks, and 4 trailers from Volvo Trucks.
The restoration work was carried out by Volvo Group Korea directly connecting local customers who own their equipment to the disaster sites.
Previously, in June last year, Volvo Group Korea also supported recovery efforts in the Goseong wildfire area by deploying Volvo Construction Equipment machinery in collaboration with Volvo Trucks Korea.
Yang Sung-mo, CEO of Volvo Group Korea, stated, "Many areas suffered flood damage due to the longest monsoon period from July to August and consecutive typhoons in September this year, but recovery work was delayed due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Therefore, we secured project funds and took direct action to support. We hope this small help can assist farmers and local residents who are struggling with the dual hardships of flood damage and COVID-19."
