Woori Bank Launches First Digital Mail Delivery Service Based on Identity Verification in Banking Sector
Sending Digital Mail Notifications via KakaoTalk and SMS Instead of Traditional Paper Mail Delivery
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] Woori Bank announced on the 14th that it will implement the 'Identity Verification-Based Digital Mail Delivery (Mobile Electronic Notification) Service,' the first of its kind among commercial banks to improve the paper mail delivery method.
Until now, various notices such as deposit and loan information have been sent by mail to the addresses customers registered. However, with the government's regulatory sandbox approval, Woori Bank is collaborating with KakaoPay and KT to implement a mobile-based electronic notification service, allowing customers to easily and conveniently check notice information anytime and anywhere.
The digital notices verified through smartphone identity authentication are provided via KakaoTalk messages and SMS, resolving inconveniences caused by customers' absence or moving, which previously delayed mail receipt, and reducing the risk of personal information leakage due to lost mail.
Additionally, this reduces the use of paper for mail notices, contributing to environmental protection, and decreases the costs and time associated with mail production and delivery.
The service will first be applied on the 15th of this month to 21 types of paper notices, including loan maturity notifications, and will be expanded to the rest starting from March next year.
