Gangdong-gu Holds Online Labor Rights Forum
2nd Year Role and Challenges of Labor Rights Center, Live Broadcast on Gangdong-gu Office YouTube Channel... Labor Experts Gathered to Explore Sustainable Labor Policies in Post-Corona Era
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will hold an online labor rights forum on the 14th from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM under the theme "The Role and Tasks of Gangdong-gu Labor Rights Center for a Labor-Friendly City Gangdong."
Opened in June last year, the Gangdong-gu Labor Rights Center is the first facility directly operated by a district office nationwide. It provides a variety of services in a one-stop manner, ranging from employment, legal, and labor consultations for vulnerable workers to business stability support for small business owners and job support for job seekers.
This forum was prepared to mark the second anniversary of the Labor Rights Center's opening, to review the district's labor policy implementation status, and to explore the center's role and development direction in response to the rapidly changing labor environment in the post-COVID-19 era.
The chairperson will be Jeong Yong-hae, Director of Policy Research at the National Public Officials Labor Union. The forum will begin with a presentation by Kim Jong-jin, Senior Research Fellow at the Korea Labor and Society Institute, on "Exploring Labor Policies and Tasks of the Labor Rights Center during the COVID-19 Period," followed by a case presentation by Hwang Chang-seon, Head of the Labor Planning Cooperation Team at the Gangdong-gu Labor Rights Center, titled "Cases of Labor Rights Center Activities and Future Plans," and a discussion among four panelists.
This gathering of labor experts is expected to enable in-depth discussions aimed at enhancing workers' rights and interests.
To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the forum will be held online and anyone can participate in real time through the official YouTube channel of Gangdong-gu Office. Only about 20 people, including the chairperson, presenters, and panelists, will attend on-site, adhering to quarantine guidelines.
