Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Announces 'Standard Human Rights Management Charter for Shipping and Ports'
On the Occasion of World Human Rights Day, Jointly Established by 4 PAs
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik) jointly established and announced the ‘Standard Human Rights Management Charter for Shipping Ports’ on the 11th with Busan, Incheon, and Ulsan Port Authorities.
The Human Rights Management Charter was prepared to publicly declare the commitment of the four port authorities to practicing human rights management that respects the human rights of all stakeholders in the port ecosystem on the 14th, ‘World Human Rights Day.’
The charter reflects the results of surveys conducted on employees and external stakeholders and consists of practical contents to be observed in the port ecosystem, including △ compliance with human rights norms △ creation of safe ports △ prohibition of discrimination △ prohibition of unreasonable labor △ win-win cooperation in the shipping port industry.
According to this charter, the four port authorities have pledged to prioritize safety and create an environment where workers can work with peace of mind, striving to realize safe ports 365 days a year.
They also committed to respecting the human rights of local residents, creating good jobs, contributing to the development of the local economy and community, complying with domestic and international environmental laws, actively responding to marine and air pollution, and building environmentally friendly ports.
