Cheong "Joo Ho-young Meeting Request? No Prior Coordination... Opposition's Unilateral 'Inquiry Letter Politics' Offensive"
[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] The Blue House stated on the 10th that there was "no prior coordination at all" regarding Joo Ho-young, the floor leader of the People Power Party, publicly demanding a meeting with President Moon Jae-in.
A senior Blue House official told reporters in the afternoon, "(Floor Leader Joo) criticized the president through the media while demanding a meeting, unilaterally notifying us to set a date via text message and asking for a response." He added, "Floor Leader Joo had already sent two public inquiry letters to the Blue House in July and October," and criticized, "Although they are called inquiry letters, they were no different from condemnation statements. In short, it was 'inquiry letter politics.'"
The official also addressed the recent relay one-person protests held by first-term lawmakers of the People Power Party at the fountain in front of the Blue House, saying, "Without prior notice, they rushed to the Blue House, demanded a meeting with Chief Secretary for Political Affairs Choi Jae-sung, and insisted on delivering inquiry letters to the president, turning the area in front of the Blue House fountain into a political battleground before leaving." He raised his voice, stating, "From first-term lawmakers to the floor leader, this is the fourth time they have unilaterally criticized through the media in the form of inquiries or meetings and launched political offensives."

He continued, "We see this as an excessive attempt to drag the president into matters that should be resolved between political parties in the National Assembly," and added, "No matter how much understanding we try to have, the political affairs team’s judgment is that it is difficult to see this as a sincere dialogue aimed at discussing current issues."
