Man Falsely Reporting Bomb Installation Sent to Prosecution with Detention Request
Court Issues Arrest Warrant on 4th... "Serious Case, Risk of Flight"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man who falsely reported that he had planted explosives at ASEM Tower in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, has been sent to prosecution in custody.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced on the 10th that Hong Mo, who is accused of obstructing official duties by deception, was sent to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment.
Hong is accused of calling 112 at 6:12 p.m. on the 10th of last month and saying, "I have planted explosives at ASEM Tower," and "If the money is not deposited by Monday, I will detonate the bomb."
Due to Hong's report, about 130 officials including police and firefighters conducted a search, and about 4,000 office workers and others in the building were urgently evacuated. After a search lasting about three hours, no explosives were found.
