This event consisted of programs including pitching, investment environment in the Kansai region, cases of foreign companies entering the market, unique Japanese business customs, Kyoto-style management methods, and the process of establishing a corporation. On this day, 22 domestic startups also participated in individual pitching sessions.
Earlier this year, KOTRA visited the Kansai Economic Federation in Japan and proposed expanding cooperation between startups of the two countries. Takuko Sawada, Chairperson of the Venture Ecosystem Committee of the Kansai Economic Federation, congratulated the event and said, "We will work harder with KOTRA to increase Korea-Japan economic cooperation." The Kansai Economic Federation plans to continue serving as a bridge between the two countries by strengthening open innovation for exchanges between large corporations and startups.
The Kansai region in Japan has many excellent academic institutions and is opening public and private incubation facilities one after another. In July, the Japanese government selected the Kansai region as a 'global hub city' for building a startup ecosystem. With increased local government support, the startup creation and nurturing system is expected to be strengthened. ICT, medical bio, and consumer goods are promising fields for startups.
