'Gimhae-si Integrity Score, Highest Ever' ... 1st Place in Gyeongnam Province
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Gimhae City in Gyeongnam announced on the 9th that it received a comprehensive integrity grade of Level 2 with an all-time high score of 8.61 in the 2020 Public Institution Integrity Evaluation conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
This represents a two-level improvement compared to last year, with both external integrity and internal integrity rated at Level 2, showing score improvements in all evaluation categories, ranking first among the 18 cities and counties in Gyeongsangnam-do.
The city's integrity score rose consecutively for three years from 7.41 points (Level 3) in 2016, the first year of Mayor Heo Seong-gon's term, to 7.89 points (Level 2) in 2017, and 8.37 points (Level 2) in 2018, but dropped to Level 4 last year. The city made efforts throughout 2020 to improve integrity and achieved its highest score ever.
During this time, the city concentrated all administrative efforts to strongly promote anti-corruption and integrity policies to raise the lowered integrity level.
Key policies included regularizing integrity improvement strategy report meetings chaired by the mayor, producing integrity songs and videos, implementing one integrity initiative per department, and continuously promoting the Integrity Wave Movement such as operating Integrity Day.
