Yoon Seok-yeol Leads Successive Polls for Next Presidential Election... Results Outside Margin of Error Compared to 2nd Place
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Yoon Seok-yeol, Prosecutor General, ranked first in both of the next presidential candidate approval rating surveys released on the 9th. Lee Nak-yeon, the leader of the ruling Democratic Party who had been competing for first and second place, is now being chased by Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, behind Prosecutor General Yoon.
According to a survey conducted by Hangil Research on behalf of Cookie News from the 5th to the 7th among 1,002 people nationwide aged 18 and over (with a sampling error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level), Prosecutor General Yoon's approval rating was 28.2%. Lee Jae-myung received 21.3%, and Lee Nak-yeon 18.0%. Both figures were outside the margin of error, trailing Prosecutor General Yoon.
Following them were independent lawmaker Hong Joon-pyo (5.4%), former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min (2.5%), and Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun (2.5%).
In the next presidential candidate preference survey conducted by Realmeter on behalf of Kukmin Ilbo from the 7th to the 8th among 1,000 people nationwide aged 18 and over (with a sampling error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level), Prosecutor General Yoon also received 25.8% support, ranking first. Lee Jae-myung and Lee Nak-yeon tied with 20.2% each.
Lawmaker Hong recorded 5.2%, former Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae each received 4.4%, and former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min got 3.8%.
