Suncheon-si Decides to Provide Disaster Relief Funds to Struggling Self-Employed and Small Business Owners under Social Distancing Level 2
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) has decided to provide disaster relief funds to about 5,900 businesses operating facilities that have been suspended or restricted due to the elevation of social distancing to Level 2.
Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon and the Suncheon City Council announced in a joint statement on the morning of the 9th that 1 million KRW will be provided to 361 entertainment facilities of 5 types that are prohibited from gathering, 500,000 KRW to 2,968 priority management facilities, and 300,000 KRW to 2,527 general management facilities.
The total amount of disaster relief funds is about 2.6 billion KRW, which will be paid by December this year using the disaster reserve fund. Responsible officials plan to visit the sites and provide the funds in the form of Suncheon Love Gift Certificates.

Mayor Heo said, “Although social distancing Level 2 has been somewhat eased, I believe difficulties will continue for the time being.” He added, “We will explore all possible measures that Suncheon City can take to end the COVID-19 disaster situation as soon as possible and return to normal daily life.”
