Gwangju Nam-gu to Hold 2nd Policy Debate on Public Institution Relocation on the 22nd
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 9th that it will hold a "Policy Forum for Preparing for the 2nd Relocation of Public Institutions and Establishing Win-Win Development Plans between Nam-gu and the Innovation City" at the Nam-gu Office Large Conference Room on the 22nd.
The policy forum will be attended by academic experts, local district members of the National Assembly, and local council members, and will be conducted with a minimized number of attendees to prevent COVID-19.
The forum is expected to last about 90 minutes under two themes: "Win-Win Cooperation Strategy for the 2nd Relocation of Public Institutions in Gwangju and Jeonnam" and "Win-Win Development Plans between Nam-gu and the Innovation City."
The speakers at the forum will be Dr. Kim Jong-il from the Gwangju-Jeonnam Research Institute and Professor Jin Jong-heon from the Department of Geography at Kongju National University.
The two experts plan to introduce, respectively, a metropolitan-level win-win strategy and win-win development plans between local cities ahead of the 2nd relocation of public institutions from the Seoul metropolitan area.
First, Dr. Kim Jong-il is expected to focus on the theme "Win-Win Cooperation Strategy for the 2nd Relocation of Public Institutions in Gwangju and Jeonnam," discussing how Gwangju and Jeonnam can utilize the additional relocation of public institutions as an opportunity for a great leap forward, and the direction Gwangju and Jeonnam should take from a macro perspective.
Following this, Professor Jin Jong-heon is understood to express opinions on win-win development plans for both regions by applying a detailed approach that leverages the geographical advantages of Nam-gu and the Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint Innovation City.
After the presentations, five experts will participate as panelists for about 40 minutes of designated discussion.
A Nam-gu official said, "The 2nd relocation of public institutions is a national task that can no longer be postponed for balanced national development. We will do our best to prepare justifiable reasons and attraction strategies that the government can accept so that the relocation of public institutions to Nam-gu can be smoothly achieved."
