Songpa-gu Recruiting 60 College Students for Winter Break Administrative Internships
Applications open from the 9th to the 16th on Songpa-gu website... Opportunities to participate in district administration from administrative practice to policy proposals
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is recruiting 60 participants for the '2021 Winter Vacation University Student Administrative Intern' program until the 16th.
The district operates administrative internships twice a year, in summer and winter, to allow university students to gain social experience and experience district administrative work during their vacation periods.
The university student administrative interns will be assigned to various locations such as the district office, health centers, community service centers, libraries, and welfare centers from January 8 to February 5 next year to perform administrative support tasks.
Applicants must be university students or on leave who are registered residents of Songpa-gu as of the announcement date (December 2, 2020), or university students or on leave attending universities located in Songpa-gu. However, students from remote universities, computer institutes, lifelong education centers, and those who worked as university student administrative interns during the 2020 winter and summer vacations are excluded.
Among the 60 recruits, 9 (15%) will be given priority selection from the following groups: ▲basic livelihood security recipients and their children ▲legally designated low-income groups and their children ▲registered disabled persons ▲North Korean defectors and their children ▲national merit recipients and their children ▲families with three or more children.
Additionally, 3 participants (5%) each will be selected from those who participated in the Songpa Youth Online Forum in November and university students attending universities located in Songpa-gu.
The working period is 21 days from January 8 next year, working five days a week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The work allowance applies the '2021 Songpa-gu Living Wage,' paying 52,700 KRW per day, with a total of 1,310,000 KRW for full attendance.
The district plans to provide various experiences for administrative interns, including practical work experience, online employment programs in preparation for the post-COVID era, and safety education.
In particular, after performing group projects monitoring key district administration projects and proposing improvements, outstanding teams will be awarded the Mayor's Commendation.
University students wishing to participate in the administrative intern program can apply on the Songpa-gu website by December 16.
Selection will be made by a public lottery through a computer system at 2 p.m. on the 17th, and results can be checked on the district website at 5 p.m. the same day.

Songpa-gu Mayor Park Seong-su stated, "The employment market is severely shrinking due to COVID-19," adding, "We hope the experience of administrative interns will be a good foundation for participating university students' career planning, and we will actively seek various job experiences and job matching opportunities to help overcome youth employment difficulties."
