The donation ceremony was attended by key figures from government agencies and Busan social welfare organizations, including Dominic Signora, President of Renault Samsung Motors, Park Jong-gyu, Chairman of the labor union, Hong Jeong-gi, Vice Minister of Environment, Byun Seong-wan, Acting Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, Shin Jeong-taek, Chairman of the Busan Community Chest of Korea, Jo Jeong-hee, Co-Executive Director of the Busan Citizens' Group Council, and Park In-ho, Executive Director of the Busan Economic Revitalization Citizens' Coalition.
The donated vehicles, consisting of 100 Renault Twizy, 10 SM3 Z.E., and 3 Renault Master models, will be delivered to 70 social welfare institutions and social economy organizations in Busan that provide various social welfare services for the elderly, disabled, low-income groups, and animal welfare, among others.
The donation of vehicles worth 1 billion KRW was realized through the collaboration of Renault Samsung Motors, a leading company in the Busan region, the Ministry of Environment, and Busan City, aiming to alleviate the difficulties faced by vulnerable groups who need social support and attention due to the prolonged social distancing caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to promote a culture of eco-friendly vehicle donations that combine social welfare and environmental responsibility to pass on a clean natural environment to future generations.
To this end, Renault Samsung Motors and its labor union agreed in April to establish a joint social contribution fund under both names to share the difficulties of the local community caused by COVID-19, finalizing the 2019 wage agreement.
In particular, the ultra-compact electric vehicle Renault Twizy being donated this time is already widely used in local welfare facility projects. The Twizy is praised for its high utility in visiting consultations and meal deliveries for socially vulnerable groups such as the disabled and elderly living alone, as it can move more safely and quickly through narrow alleys and hilly roads.
The Renault Master, a representative medium-sized commercial vehicle model from the Renault Group provided upon request from social welfare institutions, is equipped with wide and comfortable fixed seats instead of foldable ones in all seats, and standard 3-point seat belts, ensuring safety, convenience, and ample cargo space. It has attracted significant attention in the domestic medium-sized van and cargo vehicle market.

Dominic Signora, President of Renault Samsung Motors, said, “As COVID-19 cases surge recently, the hardships of Busan citizens are significant, and at times like this, solidarity between the local community and citizens is necessary. I want to convey a message to stay strong together to overcome the crisis and move toward hope. I hope this electric vehicle donation will serve as an opportunity to support social welfare services for neighbors in need and to spread a culture of eco-friendly vehicle donations for environmental preservation for future generations.”
