Biden: "Let's Wear Masks for 100 Days... I Will Get Vaccinated"
Director Fauci hopes to remain... Expected to be appointed as top medical advisor
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] President-elect Joe Biden of the United States advocated for nationwide mask usage for 100 days immediately after his inauguration on January 20 next year.
On the 3rd (local time), Biden made this statement during an interview with CNN. He emphasized, "It's just 100 days. Not forever. 100 days."
He also stated that he would receive the novel coronavirus vaccine (COVID-19) if Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), says it is safe.
Following former Presidents Barack Obama and George HW Bush, who mentioned getting vaccinated on camera, the next president is also encouraging vaccination. This is interpreted as a move to alleviate public doubts about the vaccine's safety.
In the interview, Biden expressed hope to retain Dr. Fauci and mentioned his desire to appoint him as his chief medical advisor in the next administration. Biden also introduced his incoming Chief of Staff, Ron Klain, as someone who knows Dr. Fauci well.
