[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A man gave the owner of a jewelry store a beverage containing sleeping pills and then stole precious metals worth around 200 million won before fleeing.
According to the Pohang Bukbu Police Station on the 2nd, around 3 to 4 p.m. the previous day, a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, was talking with the owner at a jewelry store in Jukdo-dong, Buk-gu, Pohang City, pretending to purchase precious metals, and handed over a pre-prepared beverage.
The owner who drank the beverage immediately lost consciousness and was later found by people who visited the store.
About three hours later, the owner woke up and realized that precious metals worth approximately 200 million won had been stolen, and reported it to 112.
The owner, who was taken to the hospital, is reported to be in good health.
The police investigating the case are focusing on the possibility that the suspect is a repeat offender, considering that the CCTV main unit installed in the jewelry store disappeared and only high-priced items from a specific location were selectively stolen instead of the precious metals displayed in the showcase.
