Gwangju Veterans Office Seeks 6·25 War Veterans Graduated from Gwangju Technical High School
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Regional Veterans Office (Director Im Seonghyun) is searching for veterans of the Korean War from Gwangju Technical High School.
The Gwangju Veterans Office announced on the 2nd that it plans to build a "Memorial Monument" next year inscribing the names of Korean War veterans who graduated from Gwangju Technical High School within the school grounds.
To construct the memorial monument, the Gwangju Veterans Office has secured a list of names but is conducting additional verification work.
Korean War veterans include soldiers, police officers (including volunteer police), youth corps members, local defense force members, and student soldiers who enlisted during the Korean War period (June 25, 1950 ? July 27, 1953).
For those who graduated from Gwangju Technical High School, whether they qualify as Korean War veterans can be confirmed by the individual or their bereaved family members upon request by verifying military records, and eligible persons can be registered as Korean War veterans.
