Gwangju Dong-gu Temporarily Closes 11 Public Sports Facilities Including National Sports Center
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 2nd that all public sports facilities in the district will be temporarily closed starting from the 2nd to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infections and community transmission.
This temporary closure is to thoroughly block the spread of local infections due to the rapid increase in new COVID-19 cases.
The facilities include ▲Dong-gu National Sports Center ▲Yongsan Sports Park (soccer field, tennis court, badminton court, gateball court) ▲Dong-gu Cultural Center ▲Dong-gu Multipurpose Gymnasium ▲Gateball Court, totaling 11 public sports facilities, and will remain closed until the COVID-19 spread stabilizes.

Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “We understand the inconvenience caused to citizens due to the frequent closures of sports facilities because of COVID-19, and we ask for your understanding. Please maintain a sense of crisis, strictly follow personal infection prevention rules, and refrain from using high-risk facilities such as multi-use facilities for the time being.”
