[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Coupang announced on the 2nd that its food delivery service app 'Coupang Eats' was selected as the 'Best App of 2020' by Google Play. Coupang Eats not only won the 'Best App of the Year' but also secured awards in the 'Popular App of the Year' and 'Everyday Life App of the Year' categories, achieving a triple crown.
Google Play annually announces the best apps that have been most loved in each category of its app market, the Google Play Store. Coupang Eats, selected as the Best App of the Year, combines Coupang's artificial intelligence (AI) technology and logistics expertise to provide a service that delivers food from restaurants ordered by customers. It has received positive feedback by adhering to the principle of processing only one delivery per order.

It is also leading the way in establishing new win-win models. Recently, Coupang Eats partnered with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Small Enterprise and Market Service under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to start delivering food from traditional market restaurants. Merchants from 42 markets and over 600 stores in Seoul are meeting customers through Coupang Eats. Park Dae-joon, CEO of Coupang's New Business Division, said, "We will strive to provide Coupang Eats' differentiated service with more diverse menus in more regions, offering customers a better experience."
