Marine Litter Issue to Be Actively Addressed from Next Year with Five Key Management Policies
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do will actively implement policies from next year aimed at 'realizing a healthy and safe Gyeongnam Sea' and fundamentally solving the problem of marine litter.
According to this research, the existing marine litter along the coastal and sea areas within the province is estimated to be about 27,000 tons, including approximately 20,000 tons of submerged litter on the seabed, about 6,600 tons along the coastline, and 287 tons of floating litter.

Based on these results, the province plans to carry out five key management policies to fundamentally address the marine litter issue: creating clean beaches, maintaining the marine environment, expanding the collection and transportation system for floating litter, establishing a foundation for the industrialization of marine litter, and strengthening the sense of ownership of the sea.
