Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol Returns... "Appreciate the Swift Decision and the Judiciary" (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] A court has issued a decision to temporarily suspend the order by Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae to suspend Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol from his duties. After the court's decision, Prosecutor General Yoon immediately went to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office and stated, "I am grateful to the judiciary for making a swift decision so that I can quickly return to work."
On the 1st, the Administrative Court of Seoul, Administrative Division 4 (Presiding Judge Jo Mi-yeon) partially accepted Yoon's request for a suspension of execution, which he filed in opposition to Minister Chu's order to suspend him from duty.
Yoon's side had requested that the order be suspended until the final judgment of the main lawsuit is confirmed, but since the court decided to suspend the order's effect for only one month after the ruling, the legal community views this as a de facto lifting of the suspension from duty.
Upon hearing the news of the suspension of execution, Prosecutor General Yoon immediately went to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office. Arriving at the lobby of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office at 5:13 p.m., Yoon said, "I thank the judiciary for making a swift decision so that I can return to work quickly." He added, "I promise to do my best to uphold the constitutional spirit and the rule of law as a public official of the Republic of Korea, more than anyone else among our members."

Meanwhile, on the same day, the Inspection Committee resolved that the disciplinary request, suspension of duty, and investigation referral against Prosecutor General Yoon were all inappropriate. It was reported that all attending members of the Inspection Committee agreed with this opinion, resulting in a unanimous resolution. Although the Inspection Committee's resolutions or recommendations are not binding, they are expected to place considerable pressure on Minister Chu and the disciplinary committee members when deciding on severe disciplinary actions such as dismissal or removal against Prosecutor General Yoon.
