Unity: "Korea is the 4th Largest Game Market... We Will Support Developers"
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Unity, a 3D engine company used for game production, announced on the 1st that it will support domestic developers.
John Riccitiello, CEO of Unity, said at an online press conference on the same day, "Korea is the fourth largest market in the game industry," adding, "It has a world-class e-sports ecosystem, and Korean developers are creating amazing games."
He stated, "Beyond games, Korean creators have a significant impact on various industrial fields," and "Unity is continuously enhancing the developer experience through close partnerships with Korean companies."
According to Unity, more than 64.8% of the top 1,000 domestic mobile games, 30-40% of Xbox and PlayStation games, and 70% of Nintendo Switch games are made using the Unity engine.
Unity plans to further increase support for domestic developers.
First, it plans to operate a 1 billion KRW program supporting game developers in partnership with 'One Store'.
Unity will release a template called 'Kaya' that can help domestic developers create Unity-based content, and collaborate with console publishing specialist company 'CFK' to support console game development, which is still limited among domestic companies.
Unity also plans to expand into markets beyond gaming.
Currently, Hyundai Kia Motors and Samsung Heavy Industries use Unity's 3D engine, and Doosan Infracore is also promoting the introduction of virtual verification solutions for heavy equipment.
Kim Insook, CEO of Unity Korea, said, "Our current strategy is accelerating in line with the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," adding, "There is significant demand from industries such as automotive, architecture, and manufacturing, and we will expand into even more diverse industries."

She continued, "Although the digitalization of industries is still behind the U.S., it is catching up rapidly," emphasizing, "Although we started late, many companies are quickly adopting digital transformation concepts and making changes in various operations."
