Kim Jong-in: "If We Fail to Win Next Year's By-election, the Party Has No Future... Reform with Extraordinary Resolve"
[Asia Economy Reporters Lee Ji-eun and Lim Chun-han] Kim Jong-in, Emergency Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, emphasized that there is no future for the party if it does not win the by-elections next year, and vowed to continue reforms with extraordinary determination.
On the morning of the 1st, at a meeting with non-incumbent provincial party chairpersons hosted by the Emergency Committee, Chairman Kim said, "Our party is making great efforts for change and innovation, but many still see that we are 1% short."
He stated, "The by-elections for the Seoul and Busan mayoral positions in April next year are the last chance for our party to regain the momentum for ruling again," adding, "If we do not win this election, there is no future for the party. With this urgent resolve, we will stake everything and continue reforms."
Chairman Kim also said, "We will unite without any deviation from the goal of change and victory and boldly advance as one," and added, "If you do your best in your regions, it will have a positive impact on next year's elections."
Floor Leader Joo Ho-young also said, "Looking at the current national issues, many feel deeply frustrated and angry," and added, "The only way to stop this destruction of the constitution and disorder in national affairs is to win the election by gaining public support."
