Muan-gun Provides Housing Benefits to Unmarried Youth
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-ju] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kim San) will begin accepting advance applications for separate payment of youth housing benefits starting from the 1st of next month. This applies to unmarried youth under 30 who live separately from their parents due to reasons such as studying or job seeking.
According to Muan-gun on the 30th, eligible applicants are unmarried children aged 19 to under 30 in households receiving housing benefits, who live in different cities or counties from their parents.
Housing benefits are selected based on the recognized income amount, which comprehensively reflects the income and assets of the applying household. For a single youth, the income threshold is 45% or less of the median income (790,737 KRW per month).
Applications can be submitted at the town or township offices where the parents reside, with advance applications accepted starting from the 1st of next month. Applications are accepted year-round even after the advance application period, and from the first half of next year, online applications will also be accepted through the Bokjiro website.

A county official stated, “If selected as a recipient of the separate youth housing benefit payment, the benefit will be paid monthly on the 20th into an account under the youth’s name,” and added, “We encourage many youth living separately from their parents to apply.”
