On the morning of the 30th, during a current issues inquiry at the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, Minister Kim responded this way when Lee Heon-seung, a member of the People Power Party, demanded, "As the minister in charge, apologize to the residents of the Southeast region."
The Gimhae New Airport Verification Committee under the Prime Minister's Office announced the feasibility verification results of the Gimhae New Airport on the 17th, stating, "The Gimhae New Airport plan requires considerable supplementation," and "Fundamental reconsideration of the Gimhae New Airport promotion is necessary."
Accordingly, the government's Gimhae New Airport plan has effectively been canceled.
Regarding this, Minister Kim said, "As the responsible ministry, we did our best, but we regret that such a conclusion was reached."

In response to Lee's demand that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport should take responsibility, Minister Kim said, "We do not want to avoid responsibility itself," adding, "There was a difference in interpretation between us and the verification committee regarding the timing and target of the (new airport project), and since we decided to accept the verification committee's results, we will accept them."
