Eunpyeong-gu to Separate Youth Housing Benefits Payments Starting Next Year
Applications open from December 1, 2020... Separate Housing Benefit Payments for Youth to Begin Next Year... Targeting Unmarried Youth Aged 19 to Under 30 in Recipient Households
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will start accepting pre-applications from December this year and implement separate housing benefits payments for young unmarried individuals living apart from their parents for schooling or job seeking purposes, who face economic difficulties due to poor housing conditions and student loan burdens, starting next year.
Currently, unmarried youth aged 19 to under 30 living apart from their parents within a household receiving housing benefits are recognized as part of the same household under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act and cannot receive housing benefits separately. However, from January next year, they will be able to receive their own housing benefits separately from those paid to their parents.
Applications for separate housing benefits payments for youth can be submitted at the local community service center under the jurisdiction of the parents' address from December 1 to December 31 during the pre-application period, and applications will continue to be accepted thereafter on an ongoing basis.
Online applications through the Bokjiro website will be made available within the first half of next year.
