Seoul Elementary School Enrollment Notification Available Online from December 1
In-person and Mail Delivery at Dong Resident Center from December 15 to 20
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 29th that starting from the 1st of next month, it will implement the 'Online Submission Service for School Enrollment Notification' for elementary school enrollment children for the 2021 academic year.
The target children for elementary school enrollment next year are those born between January 1 and December 31, 2014, who are 6 years old.
Guardians of enrollment children residing in Seoul, such as household heads, parents, and grandparents, can access the city’s website by the 14th of next month, verify their identity through a certified digital signature, check the school enrollment notification for the child to be enrolled, and then submit it online to the corresponding elementary school.
Guardians who do not use the online service will receive the enrollment notification in person or by mail through local community center staff or neighborhood leaders by December 20 after the online service period ends. The received enrollment notification should be submitted when attending the designated elementary school’s preliminary gathering.
Currently, the online enrollment notification service is uniquely implemented by the Seoul Metropolitan Government nationwide. The city also provides related enrollment guidance materials such as the 'Enrollment Child Vaccination Guide' and 'Education Benefit Application Guide' to children entering elementary school.

Gwak Jong-bin, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Autonomous Administration Division, said, "Given the recent rapid increase in confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and the reluctance to have outsiders visit homes, we encourage many to use the online service to safely receive school enrollment notifications in a non-face-to-face manner."
