Sinan-gun Hosts Special Exhibition "Eros - Traces of Life"
Over 40 Works Including Greek PhotoOlympic Award Winners and Other International Stage Pieces
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jeonnam Sinan-gun (Governor Park Woo-ryang) announced on the 27th that it will exhibit the works of artists active on the world stage, including the United States and Europe, in the special exhibition hall of the Eros Seogak Museum from the 8th of next month to January 31 of next year for two months under the title "Eros - Traces of Life Exhibition."
This exhibition was specially planned to provide sightseeing spots on the travel course for tourists visiting Sinan, a COVID-19 clean area, along with the opening of the Cheonsa Bridge.
The exhibition showcases numerous works that have elevated the honor of the Republic of Korea on the international stage, including gold medal-winning works from the American Photography Association, award-winning works from the 8th Photo Olympics in Greece, and selected works in the thematic section of the European Mask Biennale, demonstrating the flow of contemporary global art.
The exhibited works convey the message that nudes, which were projected through voyeurism, desire, and aesthetic language, represent for a series of artists "an aesthetic search for traces of life in an endless dialogue with the body and a rainbow of hope that rises again."
In particular, the works of Jin Jae-min, head of the Gangneung Happiness Photography Research Institute, who created nude works of working farmers from the geographically most distant Inje Jeongseon area in Gangwon-do, resonate artistically with the bathing women works by artist Jung Tae-young, who won an award at the international competition in Greece. The human conflict structure, shedding its pretenses, sublimates into the sweat of the farmers.
The works of artists Jung Ji-woo, Jung Dong-sung, and Kim Sook-young stimulate the viewer's perspective depending on how they interpret the mystery of the human body revealed by the curvature of light and the barely visible desire and thirst.
The exhibition is divided into four sub-themes: Section 1, "It's Okay to Look"; Section 2, "Shall We Dance? The Dream of the Seven-Colored Rainbow"; Section 3, "Bathing Women and Working Farmers"; and Section 4, "Eros, Traces of Life," expressing four symbolic images?gaze, dream, work, and life?through modern realism aesthetics.
About 40 works are presented using various mixed materials such as video, installation, stone, acrylic, and canvas.
Governor Park Woo-ryang said, "Through this photo exhibition, I am glad to provide a moment of mental rest to the people tired from COVID-19 and to give residents the opportunity to appreciate high-quality works," adding, "We will hold exhibitions on various themes in the newly remodeled exhibition hall of the Eros Seogak Museum."
