People Party: "3rd Disaster Relief Fund, Swiftly Provided as Selective Concentrated Payment"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 27th, the People’s Party stated, “The third disaster relief fund should be quickly implemented through ‘selective concentrated payment,’” adding, “While maintaining the selective payment policy of the second disaster relief fund, the payment targets and support scale should be chosen more precisely to provide in-depth support.”
Hong Kyung-hee, the chief deputy spokesperson of the People’s Party, said in a commentary on the same day, “There should be no recurrence of peripheral issues like the communication fee payment, which caused futile debates during the second disaster relief fund, thereby undermining the fundamental purpose of the disaster relief fund,” and added, “Considering the rising national debt ratio and the deficit fiscal condition, the disaster relief fund should be executed through expenditure adjustments in unnecessary items of next year’s main budget.”

Chief Deputy Spokesperson Hong emphasized, “The prolonged COVID-19 situation has put the entire nation in difficulty. However, the scale of disaster is not the same for everyone,” and continued, “Please remember that disasters come first to those in hardship and are much harsher for them. Selective concentrated payment is not reverse discrimination but an expression of the spirit of ‘empathy’ for coexistence.”
