According to the court on the 24th, Judge Kwon Deok-jin of the Criminal Division 1 at the Seoul Eastern District Court sentenced Mr. A, who was indicted for violating the Fire Services Act, to a fine of 3 million won on the 19th.
Judge Kwon explained the sentencing by saying, "The defendant pushed the firefighter who was performing emergency activities to help him, thereby obstructing the emergency activities. However, the degree of assault was not severe, and he is remorseful and reflecting on his wrongdoing."
Mr. A is accused of assaulting a firefighter in front of the emergency room of a university hospital in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, at around 6:23 a.m. on April 28. When the firefighter who transported him to the emergency room told him to get out of the ambulance for treatment, Mr. A said, "What's your name? Show me your name tag, you XX. Why aren't you providing treatment?"
