Kim San, Muan County Governor, Goes All Out to Ensure Full Funding for Current Projects

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] On the 24th, Kim San, the governor of Muan County, Jeollanam-do, announced that he visited the National Assembly and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to make an all-out effort to secure national funding for local pending projects for next year.
Governor Kim visited the National Assembly along with the planning director and other staff while the National Assembly's Budget Committee and its subcommittee are in session. He sequentially visited the offices of Seo Sam-seok, a National Assembly member from Muan, Seo Dong-yong of the Democratic Party who is serving on the Budget Committee subcommittee, and Eom Tae-young of the People Power Party. He explained the necessity of fully reflecting the local pending projects applied for in next year's national budget and actively requested their support.
The projects proposed this time include the Hyangyeong Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project (1 billion KRW) to improve the frequently flooded agricultural land and roads around Pyeongsan-ri, Hyangyeong-myeon; the Muan County Water Reuse Facility Installation Project (1.6 billion KRW) for four large-scale facilities with high water usage such as Mokpo National University and Muan Comprehensive Sports Park; the Sewerage Maintenance Projects for rural villages in Sinhak, Oryu, and Masan (3 billion KRW); and the Sewerage Maintenance Projects for rural villages in Bokgil, Wonsonghyeon, and Haksong (2.5 billion KRW).
Additionally, he requested the inclusion of budget for detailed design fees to expedite the expansion of sports facilities in Namak New Town, a long-awaited project for residents of Namak and Oryong districts. He also sought cooperation to ensure that Muan County is selected for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries’ upcoming December public projects, including the Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project and the Fisheries Resource Spawning and Habitat Creation Project.
In particular, during a meeting with Lee Jae-young, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, he requested special grant funds for the remodeling project of Bulmu Park (1 billion KRW), the widening and paving of County Road No. 3 between Ilsan Uisan and Gujeong (1.1 billion KRW), the widening and paving of Rural Road No. 204 in Samhyang-eup (500 million KRW), the widening and paving of Rural Road No. 205 between Wolam and Juksan in Illo (1 billion KRW), and the asphalt overlay project on the former Local Road No. 49 (1 billion KRW).

Governor Kim San stated, “This is the last opportunity within the government budget schedule to secure next year’s government budget. We will do our utmost to ensure that our county’s pending projects are fully reflected during the National Assembly’s review process.”
