Suncheon-si Deokyeon Scholarship Foundation Awards 22.7 Million Won in COVID-19 Relief Scholarships to 33 Recipients
Selection and Support of Scholarship Students to Grow as Local Talents Despite Difficult Conditions
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Deokyeon Scholarship Foundation in Suncheon City (Chairman Kim Ju-cheol) selected 33 scholarship students this year on the 24th and awarded a total of 22.7 million KRW.
The Deokyeon Scholarship Foundation expanded the number of recipients and the amount to provide some support to students struggling due to COVID-19, selecting and awarding scholarships to 9 middle school students, 8 high school students, and 16 university students.
Chairman Kim Ju-cheol said, “I hope that despite the difficulties caused by COVID-19, students will dream bigger dreams and grow into local talents.” He added, “We will continue to strive to nurture talents in the local community.”
The Deokyeon Scholarship Foundation was officially launched in 2014 as a public interest corporation, originating from the ‘Deokyeon-dong Residents Scholarship Association’ established in 2002, led by the community leaders of Deokyeon-dong, Suncheon City.
Last year, scholarships totaling 15.2 million KRW were awarded to 27 students, and the foundation has selected scholarship students once a year, distributing approximately 150 million KRW in scholarships to date.
