Jeju Office of Education Announces CSAT Quarantine Measures Including Partition Installation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Park Chang-won] Ten days before the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education announced quarantine measures for the test sites.
The main points include reducing the capacity of each test site to 24 students, increasing the number of classrooms used for the exam, and installing partitions on each desk.
The Office of Education announced on the 24th that the "2021 College Scholastic Ability Test Safety Implementation Measures" will be enforced from 8:40 a.m. on the test day, December 3rd.
A total of 17 new test sites have been established: 10 general test sites in District 95 (Jeju), 4 general test sites in District 96 (Seogwipo), one separate test site per district, and one hospital test site.
According to quarantine standards, the number of staff including supervisors and quarantine personnel has been increased to 324, and 17 additional test rooms have been added.
To ensure distancing between examinees, the number of students per general test room has been reduced from 28 to 24.
Partitions have been installed on the front of each student's desk to block virus transmission, and about three separate rooms within the test site are secured for examinees showing COVID-19 symptoms. Up to four students can take the exam in these separate rooms.
Five quarantine officers will be assigned to each test site.
Each test site is equipped with quarantine supplies such as masks, gowns, goggles, face shields, and disposable sanitary gloves, and chairs for exam supervisors will be alternated for use.
A comprehensive inspection team led by dispatched supervisors will continuously check the quarantine management of test sites and rooms, as well as the broadcasting facilities for listening tests.
All group cheering and gatherings in front of test sites on the CSAT day are prohibited.
Additionally, to preemptively manage examinee safety and test site quarantine, third-year high school students in the province began remote classes from the 23rd.
From the 26th, all high schools in the province will switch to remote classes.
To facilitate smooth movement of examinees, supervisors, and parents on the CSAT day, the working hours of government offices, state-owned enterprises, financial institutions, and research institutes will be adjusted to start after 10 a.m.
From 6:30 a.m. to 8:10 a.m. on the day, city buses will operate intensively, and emergency transport vehicles will be supported by city hall, police stations, and other administrative offices to assist examinees' transportation.
Honking by cars and emergency vehicles around the test sites is prohibited.
The Office of Education has requested related agencies to crack down on collective actions and noise from loudspeakers, and has visited construction sites near test site schools to ask for noise reduction on the test day.
To prevent cheating, the Jeju Provincial Police Agency will operate a "Cheating Prevention Task Force."
Lee Seok-moon, Superintendent of the Jeju Office of Education, appealed, "The most important factor for a safe CSAT is the voluntary cooperation and solidarity of the residents. We ask third-year students, their families, cohabitants, and school staff to refrain from traveling outside the province."
