24-Hour Unmanned Civil Service Issuance Available in Gangseo-gu, Seoul
Plans to gradually expand from current 6 locations for convenient document issuance... This time, Airport-dong Community Center's unmanned civil service issuance machine moved outside for 24/7 operation 365 days
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] There was a time when my child had to bring a school enrollment certificate at 10 p.m., but since there was no printer at home, it was difficult to issue it online. It seems to be good for people who urgently need documents and is more convenient to use when outside as well.

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that unmanned civil service issuance machines installed inside the community service centers will be relocated outside and operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for residents' convenience.
The district has installed and operated unmanned civil service issuance machines that issue various documents using fingerprints at all 20 community service centers, but since they are usually installed inside the buildings, it was difficult to use them after office hours and on weekends.
To resolve this inconvenience, since 2017, the unmanned civil service issuance machines inside the buildings have been relocated outside, and 24-hour operation is being conducted at Yeomchang-dong, Deungchon 3-dong, Hwagok 4-dong, Balsan 1-dong community service centers, and Hwagok Health Branch Office.
Since the 20th of last month, the unmanned issuance machine at Gonghang-dong Community Service Center was also relocated outside to provide 24-hour issuance services.
The district plans to gradually increase the number of locations operating 24 hours for more convenient use by residents, and expects that the expanded operation of unmanned civil service issuance machines will also help activate non-face-to-face administration to prevent COVID-19 infection.
In the case of Yeomchang-dong Community Service Center, which relocated the unmanned civil service issuance machine outside in 2018, the average monthly number of document issuances increased by 624 when comparing before (2018) and after (2020) the relocation.
Last month, the number of documents issued during weekends and outside office hours (6 p.m. to 9 a.m.) at Yeomchang-dong unmanned civil service issuance machine was 297, accounting for 20% of the total 1,431 issuances, showing a high usage rate.
Although the 24-hour operation of unmanned civil service issuance machines is a minor change, it has high satisfaction among local residents who actually use it because they can immediately obtain various documents when needed.
A district official said, “When we received complaints that people had a hard time because they needed documents late at night but could not get them nearby, it was regrettable that we could not help immediately,” and added, “We hope that the 24-hour operation of unmanned civil service issuance machines will be of great help to residents who have difficulties due to document issuance.”
