Since 2001, Kyowon Group has carried out various activities centered on its social contribution motto of ‘Inyeon Sarang’ (Connection and Love) and ‘Bareun Inseong’ (Right Character), focusing on fostering children's knowledge and the values of being proper members of society. Representative activities include providing complete book collections and supporting educational programs for social welfare facilities nationwide, launching the first educational company’s Right Character campaign, supporting multicultural and low-income children, and offering psychological treatment programs for children and adolescents.
The ‘Right Character Campaign,’ started in 2012 in collaboration with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, is regarded as a model case of active corporate participation in solving social issues such as school violence and bullying. To cultivate proper character in children, Kyowon Group produced the character education textbook ‘Growing the Character Tree of Me, You, Us, and the Whole World’ and distributed about one million copies free of charge to regional children's centers and elementary schools nationwide until 2015. They also introduced the ‘After-School Character Theater’ program, which integrates the Kyowon All Story complete book collection with theater and artistic activities for lower-grade elementary school children.
Last year, Kyowon participated in the Youth Stress Free Zone adjustment project jointly conducted by Seoul City and the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation. The Stress Free Zone is a space for stress relief through psychological stability tests, play activities, color therapy, and aromatherapy. Through this, they established on-campus rest facilities to help children cultivate healthy minds. Kyowon supported the establishment of the Stress Free Zone at Changsin Elementary School in Seoul by donating 140 million KRW and providing language learning tablet PCs.
According to Kyowon, they have also taken the lead in practical support for local children and families during the spread of COVID-19 and social difficulties. This includes a donation of 2 billion KRW for child education support in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, which were heavily affected by COVID-19, participating in good landlord activities to share the difficulties of small business owners, and donating masks to children’s hospitals.
