This academic conference was conducted simultaneously offline and online, focusing on the restoration of humanity and urban regeneration using multimedia amid the rapid changes in society, education, and economy caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of about 270 papers were submitted, sharing research results of experts through presentations of general papers, undergraduate papers, R&D papers, and various sections.
Additionally, Professor Lee Joo-haeng of UST (Chief Researcher at ETRI) delivered a keynote speech on the topic "Pictures Drawn with Code," and Dr. Lim Hak-soo, a chief researcher at KIOST, gave a special lecture on "Establishment of Advanced Marine Industry Open Lab and Development of Immersive Convergent Content."
The conference also included a SW Convergence Project Competition and Exhibition, AI Capstone Design Competition, and post-presentation sessions.
To comply with quarantine rules and social distancing due to COVID-19, poster presentations were conducted entirely online.
Kim Chi-yong, President of the Korea Multimedia Society (Professor of Game Animation Engineering at Dong-Eui University), said in his greeting, "We prepared this as a hot forum to share the latest technologies centered on non-face-to-face online presentations, with various platforms and networks gaining attention as new trends in the untact era due to COVID-19."
President Kim added, "We hope for the overcoming of COVID-19 and the restoration of humanity and naturalness in the post-corona era. Just as plants are planted in barren land to green and restore nature, we want to discuss through this academic conference how multimedia ICT science and technology can play an important role at the center of social greening."
The Korea Multimedia Society was founded in 1997 in Busan and has established itself as the largest domestic society in the fields of multimedia and ICT technology applications, currently with about 7,000 registered members.
It has been recognized for excellence as an academic organization by achieving high scores in journal evaluations registered with the National Research Foundation of Korea and preference surveys of journals by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
