Jeonnam Province Promotes 'Winter Natural Disaster Safety Measures'
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province has launched a 'Winter Natural Disaster Safety Measures' initiative prioritizing residents' safety by minimizing casualties and property damage.
The province announced on the 19th that it has designated the period until March 15 next year as the winter natural disaster response period and will operate a proactive situation management system.
It has embarked on an all-out response focusing on protecting lives and property from heavy snow and cold waves, as well as alleviating residents' inconveniences.
In particular, as part of the winter disaster measures, a 24-hour situation management and initial response system will be established, and an organic cooperation system with cities, counties, and related organizations will be built to strengthen field responses by sector.
Recently, the province held a practical cooperation meeting for winter natural disaster preparedness with 13 collaborative departments of Jeonnam Province and 14 related organizations including the Korea Meteorological Administration, National Police Agency, Korea Electric Power Corporation, and KT.
At the meeting, in-depth discussions were held on inter-agency cooperation plans and key tasks to be promoted during the winter natural disaster response period.
Through this, multiple officials and village representatives will be designated as managers for 245 vulnerable facilities at risk of casualties and facility damage, and pre-inspections will be conducted on snow accumulation-prone facilities.
Additionally, priority deployment of snow removal materials and equipment to habitual icing areas, operation of cold wave shelters and management of vulnerable groups, and strengthening of integrated control center CCTV and linked hazardous weather monitoring systems will also be pursued.
Along with this, from the forecast stage of heavy snow and cold waves, residents' action guidelines will be promptly disseminated to residents using media outlets, disaster text message services, and village amplifier broadcasts.
