Court Sentences Broadcaster PD to 18 Million Won Fine for Three DUI Offenses
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A broadcasting PD who had been punished twice for drunk driving was sentenced to a fine for a third drunk driving offense.
On the 19th, Judge Kwon Kyung-sun of the Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 11 sentenced A (37), a broadcasting PD indicted for violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving), to a fine of 18 million won.
A is accused of driving a passenger car while intoxicated for about 3 km from a road near Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul to a road near Susaek-ro, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul at around 1 a.m. on September 11 this year. At the time of driving, A's blood alcohol concentration was 0.149%, which is at the license cancellation level.
Previously, A was caught for drunk driving in 2007 and 2012 and received summary fines of 1.5 million won and 4 million won, respectively.

The court explained, "The defendant had a history of being punished twice for drunk driving but drove under the influence again," and added, "No traffic accident occurred due to this drunk driving incident, and considering that the defendant pledged never to commit such a mistake again."
