Don't Worry Even If It Snows~~~Seoul Gangseo-gu, Snow Removal Measures Ready
Seoul Gangseo-gu Enters Four-Month Snow Removal Plan Until March 15 Next Year...Increased Snow Removal Efficiency with Pedestrian-Only Small Snowplows and Automatic Brine Sprayers...Snow Removal Task Force Involving Residents Operated
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that it has designated the snow removal period until March 15 next year and will promote a full-scale "Winter Snow Removal Plan" to minimize inconvenience to residents through efficient and systematic snow removal during the upcoming winter season.
To establish an effective snow removal system, the district has completed thorough preparations, including inspecting all snow removal equipment such as snow removal vehicles and snow removal spreaders, and installing snow removal boxes at 464 vulnerable points such as main roads and slopes.
First, to prevent safety accidents for residents during their morning commute, two small snow removal vehicles dedicated to sidewalks will operate around subway stations and sidewalks on main roads.
In particular, 29 remote "automatic brine spraying devices" have been installed and operated in eight sections closely related to residents' walking safety, such as sidewalks and roads near Yeomchang Elementary School and Sinjeong Elementary School.
These sections are equipped with CCTV to monitor snow removal situations in real time, and the control room can remotely operate the "automatic brine spraying devices" using smartphones and PCs, which is expected to be highly effective for initial snow removal during unexpected heavy snowfall.
Additionally, the district operates a "Resident Snow Removal Task Force" to improve initial response during heavy snowfall. The task force, composed of up to 12 residents per neighborhood totaling 120 people, is deployed to vulnerable snow removal areas to minimize icy zones through prompt action and prevent falls and other accidents.
Free snow removal tool boxes are also placed and operated at 10 locations around commercial areas with dense shops and high pedestrian traffic, such as near Hwagok Station and Kkachisan Station.
The snow removal tool boxes are equipped with essential equipment such as shovels, brooms, and snow removal shovels, allowing residents to use them voluntarily when it snows.
The snow removal agents used are eco-friendly and stocked to minimize pedestrian inconvenience, road damage, and facility corrosion.
Furthermore, the district plans to ensure thorough snow removal measures this winter by establishing a cooperative system with neighboring local governments such as Yangcheon-gu, Incheon Gyeyang-gu, and Bucheon City to minimize snow removal blind spots.
Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, "Although less snow is expected this year compared to previous years, we have made thorough preparations to respond to any possible winter disaster situations. We will do our best to prevent winter accidents by carefully managing residents' safety, including effective response during heavy snowfall and preventing falls on icy sidewalks."
