The Future of Pohang City as a 'Marine Culture Tourism City' in 10 Years... Final Report Meeting on Regional Development
Completion of the 'Master Plan Establishment Service' Conducted Over 11 Months
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] On the 18th, Pohang City in Gyeongbuk held the final briefing session for the '2030 Pohang Tourism Regional Development and Revitalization Master Plan Establishment Project' at the city hall's large conference room.
This project, aimed at advancing Pohang as a marine cultural tourism city at the center of the East Sea Rim, analyzed domestic and international tourism environments and included the basic concept of Pohang tourism development, tourism resource development and promotion plans, and commercialization plans.
The project agency, which began establishing the Pohang Tourism Master Plan in January, presented four visions to become Korea's representative complex cultural tourism city of the sea, history, and culture: ▲ International Tourism City ▲ Cultural Tourism Gateway City ▲ Clean Natural Environment City ▲ Night Tourism Night Light City.
By region, the northern area was conceptualized as a leisure and healing tourism zone centered on beautiful mountains and sea for recreation and amusement; the urban area as an international urban tourism zone reflecting the complex image of Yeongilman Tourism Special Zone and industrial and urban culture; and the southern area as a historical and cultural tourism zone for stay-type tourism based on Janggi Eupseong and Homigot.
Along with this, the plan established ten key tourism development projects including night tourism revitalization, convergence and integration of shopping & food tourism, introduction of various accommodation facilities, and development of interesting experience programs, as well as phased implementation strategies and funding plans.
