Changwon City Wins Excellence Award in National Bicycle Commute Challenge
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Changwon City won first place in the number of commuting trips category in the nationwide Bicycle Commuting Challenge.
The Bicycle Commuting Challenge involved 12 cities nationwide participating to reduce greenhouse gases and promote non-face-to-face citizen practice actions in response to COVID-19.
Changwon City had a total of 542 participants, with a total of 4,448 bicycle commuting trips, making it the top city among participating cities nationwide. In particular, Mayor Heo Seong-moo personally participated in the challenge, putting in great effort and celebrating the joy of taking first place in the commuting trips category.
The award ceremony was held on the 16th in Jeonju City, concurrently with the opening ceremony of the 2020 Korea-EU Eco-Transportation International Conference, where the second-year performance report of the Bicycle Commuting Challenge and discussions on establishing a bicycle lifestyle took place, with the event conducted both online and offline simultaneously.
