Seoul Reports 90 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... Highest in 76 Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] As the government decided to raise the 'social distancing' level to 1.5 in the Seoul metropolitan area starting from the 19th, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Seoul reached the highest daily count since last September.
Seoul City announced on the 17th at midnight that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul increased by 90 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 6,903. This is the highest daily new case count since September 1, when there were 101 cases.
Confirmed cases related to a sauna in Seocho-gu increased by 9 in one day (total 14), cases related to a nursing facility in Seodaemun-gu increased by 8 (total 9), cases related to a workplace in Dobong-gu increased by 7 (total 11), cases related to a construction site in Gangdong-gu increased by 3 (total 7), cases related to the Military Welfare Group in Yongsan-gu increased by 2 (total 18), cases related to acquaintances' travel in Songpa-gu increased by 2 (total 8), cases related to a fitness center in Gangnam-gu increased by 2 (total 59), and cases related to a sports facility in Seongdong-gu increased by 2 (total 10).
Additionally, there was one new confirmed case each related to an art graduate school and ice hockey in the metropolitan area (total 7), the Ace Hope Care Center in Dongdaemun-gu (total 64), a hospital in Gangseo-gu (total 10), Kumho Senior Nursing Home in Seongdong-gu (22 cases), and a market in Seongdong-gu (total 29).
So far, 5,923 people in Seoul have been declared recovered and discharged, while 899 are currently in isolation.
