Most COVID-19 Prevention Rule Violations Occur in 'Restaurants, Sports, and Religious Facilities'

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] It has been revealed that the highest number of violations of COVID-19 prevention guidelines occurred in restaurants, indoor sports facilities, and religious facilities.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 17th that, after analyzing 25,392 reports of guideline violations submitted to the "COVID-19 Safety Report" section of the National Petition System from July this year to the 15th of this month, the most reported locations were restaurants (15.7%), followed by indoor sports facilities (11.3%), religious facilities (11.1%), public transportation (8.1%), and cafes (7.4%).
The types of violations included reports of "not wearing masks" (68.6%), followed by insufficient social distancing (12.2%), inadequate temperature checks (8.5%), and failure to fill out visitor logs (7.5%).
The trend of guideline violations also varied depending on the period. In July, there were many violations reported in indoor sports facilities, public transportation, and religious facilities, but since this month, places closely related to daily life such as restaurants and cafes have ranked higher in reports. This is analyzed as a slight change in public awareness regarding high-risk facilities.

Choi Bok-su, Director of Disaster Cooperation at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, explained, "To supplement the government's prevention activities focused on high-risk facilities, we operated a reporting corner where citizens could identify blind spots, and 94.1% (23,903 cases) of the reports received have been processed."
