Fostering the Geospatial Industry through Public-Private Partnership, Launch of the 'Geospatial Information Forum'
[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] A 'Spatial Information Forum' will be launched to foster new industries in the spatial information field such as 'Digital Twin' through public-private cooperation.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 17th that, together with the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation (LX), the 'Spatial Information Forum,' a cooperation channel between the public and industry in the spatial information field, will be held on the 19th under the theme "Digital Twin Land, Growing New Industries."
Digital Twin refers to a 'digital virtual space' identical to reality. It is composed by combining various urban and administrative data with high-precision 3D digital maps, serving as the basic infrastructure for new industries such as autonomous vehicles, drones, augmented reality (AR)/virtual reality (VR), and is also used to provide solutions to various land and urban issues through simulations.
This event will be held both online and offline to practice social distancing due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The on-site event, scheduled to be held at Dragon City Hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, will be attended by Yoon Sung-won, 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport; Kim Jeong-ryeol, President of LX; Park Kyung-yeol, Chairman of the Spatial Information Industry Cooperative; Kim Seok-jong, President of the Spatial Information Industry Association; and industry officials. LX regional headquarters will also participate online, and the event and technology exhibition will be broadcast live on YouTube (LIBS Land Internet Broadcasting Channel).
On the 19th, from 1:30 PM, two sessions including exchange and harmony (opening ceremony) and new technology sharing will be held, and on the morning of the 20th, a win-win cooperation (technology and policy showcase) session is planned. Representative technologies covering the entire process of building, processing, and integrating digital twin data in the land sector and implementing it as an administrative service model will be exhibited and demonstrated.
