Gangdong-gu Traditional Market Festival 'Jangnal Ae' Day
On the 13th and 14th, Gu Office Open Yard Transforms into a 'Sigoal Jangteo'... Collaborating with 6 Traditional Markets, Including Multicultural Restaurants and Youth Stores
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) held the 2020 Gangdong-gu Traditional Market Festival! ‘Jangnal AE’ event on the 13th and 14th at the open yard of Gangdong-gu Office.
This event was held to revitalize traditional markets struggling due to the economic downturn caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to provide a time for merchants and local residents to communicate and relax together.
All six traditional markets in Gangdong-gu participated in the event, selling representative items from each market such as fruits and vegetables, rice cakes, sauces, tofu, and salted seafood. Youth stores and multicultural merchants within the traditional markets also participated, offering a variety of foods.
In particular, the event was decorated with a rural market atmosphere concept suited to the characteristics of traditional markets, receiving great response from residents. The seating area was designed in a flat style, booths were made with thatched and reed materials, and the night lighting was beautifully decorated with string lights using bulbs.
On the main stage, cultural performance programs such as band and singer-songwriter performances matching the deepening autumn were also available.
