COVID-19 Recovered UK Johnson Now Self-Quarantines After Contact with Confirmed Case
Prime Minister's Office: "Condition is Fine, No Symptoms... Will Continue Working"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister who recovered his health after being infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and hospitalized in the intensive care unit, has now entered self-quarantine after coming into contact with a confirmed case.
On the 15th (local time), according to BBC and others, the UK Prime Minister's Office stated, "There was a notification from the National Health Service (NHS) instructing Prime Minister Johnson to self-isolate after contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case," adding, "The Prime Minister will follow the rules and will self-isolate."
On the 12th, Johnson met with Conservative Party MPs in small groups for a 35-minute meeting. Among them, MP Lee Anderson showed COVID-19 symptoms, got tested, and was confirmed positive. Accordingly, Prime Minister Johnson now needs to self-isolate for ten days.
The Prime Minister's Office added, "Prime Minister Johnson will continue his duties, including COVID-19 response, from the Prime Minister's Office," and "He is in good condition and shows no COVID-19 symptoms."
Johnson was infected with COVID-19 at the end of March last year. His health rapidly deteriorated ten days after testing positive, leading to his transfer to the intensive care unit, but fortunately, he recovered. At that time, the UK government reportedly prepared an emergency plan in case of the Prime Minister's death.

The Guardian daily reported, "The news of Prime Minister Johnson's self-isolation comes at a difficult time as the government seeks to restore political stability following the resignations of Dominic Cummings, the Prime Minister's chief advisor, and Lee Cain, the Prime Minister's communications director," adding that major issues such as the government's Green Plan and Brexit (the UK's withdrawal from the European Union (EU)) are expected to proceed within the Prime Minister's Office.
