On the 15th, Chairman Kim mentioned in a phone call with Yonhap News Agency, "Those who have expressed their intention, either directly or indirectly, to run for president within our party are Yoo Seung-min, Oh Se-hoon, and Won Hee-ryong," naming the three individuals.
In particular, regarding former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min opening the 'Hope 22' office in front of the National Assembly on the 16th and holding a housing issue forum, he said, "As someone within the party, this is the first opening ceremony preparing for the presidential election," and added, "I will go to congratulate him."
He also added, "If Governor Won and former Mayor Oh hold similar events, I will go to congratulate them as well."
This mention is interpreted as Chairman Kim directly naming the three individuals who have consistently expressed their intention to run for president within the party as presidential candidates, signaling his intention to empower party members going forward.
Meanwhile, since his inauguration in June, Chairman Kim has repeatedly stated that "there is no clear figure as the presidential candidate desired by the people within the party." He also cited a "70s-born economic expert" as the desired model for a presidential candidate.
Furthermore, regarding Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl, who recently ranked first in a public opinion poll, and Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party who proposed the 'Pan-Opposition Innovation Platform,' he referred to them as "government and ruling party people" and "politicians outside the party," respectively, and stated that if they want to run for president, they should join the People Power Party.
