Check and Pay Vehicle Fines for All Areas of Seoul at Once
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] # Mr. A, who lives in Seoul, is trying to pay all the outstanding automobile-related fines in order to scrap his car. However, he has lost some payment notices and does not clearly remember the reasons or locations of the violations, so he is frustrated because he does not know how much to pay or where to pay.
# Mr. B, who committed illegal parking on Gangnam-daero, checked his violation status through the Gangnam-gu Office enforcement inquiry system and was relieved to see a message stating that no enforcement results existed. However, a few days later, he was surprised to receive a fine notice for illegal parking from Seocho-gu.
Seoul City is launching the "Seoul City Traffic Violation Enforcement Inquiry" service starting on the 13th, which integrates automobile-related fine information such as illegal parking and exclusive lane violations, previously operated separately by the city and its 25 autonomous districts, allowing users to check and pay all at once.
Automobile-related fines include ▲illegal parking ▲exclusive lane (bus, bicycle) violations ▲green transportation zone operation restriction violations ▲automobile tax delinquency ▲mandatory insurance non-subscription ▲failure to undergo regular inspection fines. Until now, owners had to check and pay fines from different agencies depending on the type of fine imposed on the enforcement vehicle.
The newly established system allows easy and convenient inquiry and payment of automobile-related fines, and for illegal parking and exclusive lane violation enforcement, users can also submit statements of opinion and appeals if they have objections. Additionally, many autonomous districts did not support mobile (smartphone) environments before, but now accessibility and convenience have been greatly improved so that the service can be used on mobile devices just like on PCs.
Users can check the locations of public parking lots and towing vehicle storage facilities throughout the city, and especially, they can also find information on the locations of unmanned enforcement cameras for illegal parking and exclusive lanes, which citizens are very interested in.

Ma Chae-sook, Seoul City’s Walkability Planning Officer, said, "Until now, automobile-related fine information varied by agency, causing inconvenience in reconfirming individual enforcement details or paying fines, but this will be eliminated. We will continue to discover smart public services addressing citizens’ inconveniences and reflect them in traffic policies."
