In a press release issued after the call with President Moon, President-elect Biden stated his intention to strengthen the South Korea-U.S. alliance as a linchpin for security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
The president-elect also expressed hope for close cooperation with President Moon not only on North Korea but also on climate change, mentioning that they "discussed mutual interests in strengthening democracy as well as shared values that support the South Korea-U.S. alliance."
