View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Housewife Lee Ji-min (32) frequently uses LG Uplus's Internet TV (IPTV) service 'U+ Aideulnara'. This is because it offers all English textbook brand partnerships and English character content for young children free of charge. However, it is difficult to determine which content and how to use it to aid learning, so she mainly lets her child watch content that the child likes.
LG Uplus announced on the 12th that it will launch 'U+ Aideulnara 4.0', which categorizes content according to step-by-step and weekly curricula to help subscribers like Lee reduce their concerns. U+ Aideulnara 4.0 introduces a new English homeschooling program through a partnership with Cheongdam Learning.
Based on Cheongdam Learning's accumulated creative thinking education know-how over the past 20 years, the 2,500 English education contents of U+ Aideulnara are organized into a 16-week curriculum divided into 4 levels and weekly themes. Levels 1 to 3 focus on learning the alphabet and pronunciation (phonics), while level 4 and above focus on the basics of speaking and reading.
Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of Cheongdam Learning, introduced, "If you study all the curricula step by step from the beginning, by the final stage, you will be able to use English at the level of the first grade of American public elementary school."
U+ Aideulnara 4.0 also introduces a child-specific remote control called the 'Nolipen'. When the power button of the Nolipen is pressed, the U+ Aideulnara screen turns on even if the TV is off, and only the U+ Aideulnara service can be operated. It also includes a function that links books embedded with digital codes to IPTV, allowing children to press related books with the Nolipen and watch the corresponding content on the TV screen.
Users can watch contents such as Cheongdam Language Academy's 'Phonics Concert' and 336 English textbook videos produced by the University of Oxford Publishing Department in the UK, and children can enjoy rhythm games through the motion recognition function built into the Nolipen. LG Uplus expects, "With this interactive learning method, where children can easily watch desired videos using the Nolipen, children will overcome their aversion to books and develop active learning habits."
LG Uplus changed the home screen of U+ Aideulnara 4.0 from the existing horizontal layout to a vertical expanded structure to make it easier for users to explore content and services. Based on viewing history, features such as 'Continue Watching' and 'View Bookmarked Content' are available. U+ Aideulnara 4.0 can be used not only on IPTV but also on mobile and tablet PCs. The Android operating system (OS) update will be available on the 16th, and Apple's iPhone operating system (iOS) will be provided from the end of November.
